A print exhibition of North Carolina artists has been scheduled for April 2 - May 30, 2015 at the Block Gallery in downtown Raleigh. It will be an exciting and energetic time in Raleigh as September is the month for SPARKcon, the Hopscotch music festival, and the World of Bluegrass Week. It may seem as if there is plenty of time but we need you to start thinking about the work you would like to have included in this show.
Our aim is to showcase the best work the Printmakers of North Carolina have to offer as a means of enriching and expanding viewers’ understanding of printmaking as a fine art medium/practice. We ask that you take advantage of this opportunity to show off your printmaking expertise and innovations.
There are few restrictions. Submitting artists must live and work in North Carolina.
The exhibition is limited to professional artists who are active in the regional art scene through participation in shows, teaching and/or publications. All processes, all manageable sizes will be considered at this time. We ask that when considering content, you remember that the gallery is on City property, while The Block Gallery welcomes challenging imagery, it does not display content that may be deemed offensive, sexual, overtly religious, overtly political or advocate for a particular brand, product or business. Remember that our goal is to impress, not insult our viewers.
Submissions: Artists may submit up to five images of completed work (or work in progress) by November 1, 2014. Important: Include a brief description of the work's imagery, size, process and intention.
Submit up to 5 jpegs, labeled "LastName_Title", file size between 1 and 2 MB.
Acceptances: The names of participating artists will be announced in early December, 2014. Work to be included in the exhibition will be curated through the early part of 2015 by way of studio visits.
